Mercedes Mone “Definitely Moving Full Time To Japan”

Mercedes Mone

Mercedes Mone caused a stir when she debuted for New Japan Pro Wrestling at Wrestle Kingdom in January 2023, and now the star could be set to extend her stay in the promotion.

Known as Sasha Banks in WWE, Mercedes Mone has reinvented herself in Japan, and in her first official NJPW match, she defeated KAIRI to become IWGP Women’s Champion. At Sakura Genesis on the 8th of April, Mone retained her championship when she defeated both AZM and Hazuki.

Mone will defend her title for only the second time against Mayu Iwatani at Stardom All Star Grand Queendom on the 23rd of April in what will be the last match of Mercedes Mone’s current NJPW contract.

Recent reports suggested that Mone is in talks to add one more match to her current deal but the star could have longer plans to stay in Japan. Taking to her Instagram Stories, Mone noted that she was “definitely moving full time to Japan” and shared a photo of the Tokyo School of Japanese Language suggesting that she is learning Japanese as well.

Mercedes Mone has previously addressed a possible shock return to WWE but those in AEW have also spoken about potentially working with the star.
