Matt Riddle Names Top AEW Star He Wants To Wrestle

Matt Riddle in the ring in WWE

Matt Riddle has revealed which top AEW Star he would love to step into the ring with.

The 37 year-old former UFC fighter spent five years with WWE before being released by the company following the Endeavor takeover and subsequent WWE/UFC merger in September 2023.

Despite featuring prominently on WWE TV in the months prior to his release, few were surprised to see RIddle’s name on the exit list after he had become embroiled in controversy when accusing an officer at JFK airport of sexual assault.

Riddle’s eventual release came on 22nd September and with WWE’s traditional 90 day no compete clause nearly up he has confirmed his intention to keep wrestling, listing AEW star Kenny Omega as a dream opponent during a recent appearance on MuscleManMalcolm:

“Kenny is hurt now. I saw that, indefinitely. That was sad. I really wanted to wrestle him. With my release, that could have been an opportunity, but now it’s not. There are tons of opponents out there.”

When asked about plans for 2024, Riddle also revealed a desire to wrestle in Japan:

“Doing some things that I haven’t done before. I’ve never wrestled in Japan, so that’s on the bucket list in 2024, amongst other things.”
