Major WWE Star Was “Pushing” To Win Huge Championship Match
When WWE superstars break into the world championship level, the only objective is to win the gold.
Whether it was CM Punk when he returned or Seth Rollins when he returns, every superstar aims for one of the world championships.
The current world champions are Drew McIntyre and CM Punk, and one of them had their first title defense at the Royal Rumble 2026.
WWE superstar was pushing for a victory at the Royal Rumble
At the premium live event, Drew McIntyre had put the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line against Sami Zayn. Despite Zayn’s best efforts, The Scottish Warrior retained the title. Fans did feel that this match had no storyline, but was mostly to do with having Zayn in a high-profile match in a premium live event at Saudi Arabia.
Dave Meltzer on the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that Sami Zayn was reportedly pushing for a victory against Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble. The matter was being discussed until the very last day before the Royal Rumble.
I don’t think Zayn should have won, and neither did Levesque in the end.
Still, this was a subject of discussion as to who would win right until the day of the show, since Zayn was pushing for it.
