Major WWE Heel Will Never Beat Cody Rhodes, Says Veteran

A wrestling veteran commented on the possibility of a top WWE heel beating Cody Rhodes.

Ever since Gunther signed with WWE, he has been booked as a dominant force in the ring. He dominated as NXT UK Champion for over 800 days. Due to his impressive performances in the ring, the Ring General was moved up to the main roster.

Gunther won the Intercontinental Championship soon after debuting on the main roster. He even became the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time. After losing the Intercontinental Championship, he moved on and won the World Heavyweight Championship. Over the past year, Gunther has had an incredible run in WWE. He retired Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles within a span of a few months. Now, the Ring General has his eyes set on the Undisputed WWE Championship.

Gunther faced Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Clash in Italy. However, Cody was able to win in a controversial manner. Therefore, the Ring General demanded a rematch for the title last week on SmackDown. This title rematch will take place next week on the blue brand, and the Ring General will let everyone know his stipulation for the match this week.

Vince Russo doesn’t think Gunther is going to beat Cody Rhodes

During a recent edition of Vince Russo’s The Brand podcast, the former WWE writer said that Gunther is never going to beat Cody Rhodes, and this feud has been booked to waste everybody’s time.

“Bro, here’s the thing. They’re never gonna be… Gunther’s never gonna beat Cody. Like, we know how you guys book. We’ve been watching it torturously for years and years and years. Gunther is not gonna beat Cody. So again, bro, all this is is to eat up time. All this is is filler. This is not going anywhere, and at the end, it’s just the same predictable bull**it that I just don’t know who would wanna watch this.”

Vince Russo may be on to something since Gunther has never been able to beat Cody Rhodes in their two televised singles matches. They first competed at Crown Jewel 2024, where Cody defeated Gunther. Their second bout took place recently at Clash in Italy. This time, the American Nightmare was victorious again.
