Major Update On Kenny Omega’s AEW Return Timeframe

Kenny Omega with AEW Championship

After being absent from AEW television for the last nine months, the wait for the return of Kenny Omega seems like it’s nearly over.

Having lost the AEW World Championship to ‘Hangman’ Adam Page at AEW Full Gear 2021, Kenny Omega announced that he would be taking time away from the ring to allow multiple injuries to heal.

The injuries included a torn labrum in his shoulder, a hernia and issues with his knees, with ‘The Best Bout Machine’ also later revealing he’d been suffering from vertigo since 2018.

A new update from Sean Ross Sap at Fightful Select has shed some light on the timeframe for Kenny Omega’s return being sooner rather than later. Whilst urging caution as plans can change, the report notes that it would appear AEW are planning six-man tag for All Out in September which would see Omega team with The Young Bucks.

This report is an expansion on Dave Meltzer’s previous note that Young Bucks vs. FTR III is currently being kept on hold due to an imminent “major angle”, which would now seemingly involve Omega.

The report from Fightful also claims that “certain staff” have been told of the plans for All Out. Given the length of time Kenny Omega has been away from the ring, it is no surprise there is caution about confirming his return.

Earlier this year, Kenny Omega mentioned that he would be “done” if there was one more serious injury which required such rehabilitation.
