Major AEW Star To Miss Several Months

Darby Allin, AEW logo blur

Any absent AEW star will be gone for several more months.

In recent weeks AEW has been boosted by the return of Kenny Omega. After appearing at Worlds End the former World Champion dispatched Gabe Kidd at Wrestle Dynasty before returning to Dynamite where he pledged to remind the world just why he’s the best wrestler on the planet.

With his return sparking excitement across the wrestling world, many fans have tipped Omega to dethrone Jon Moxley as World Champion and lead the charge against the Death Riders. This is a switch from previous fan sentiment where it seemed Darby Allin was the chosen one.

However, if Allin remains the man to beat Moxley, his coronation won’t be happening any time soon.

Darby Allin Set For AEW Hiatus

According to a new report from Fightful Select, Allin has now begun training for his planned attempt on Mt. Everest. The report adds that he isn’t expected back “for months.” However, he’s “slated for a push” when he returns in the Spring.

Allin hasn’t wrestled since taking Ricochet to a time-limit draw as part of the Continental Classic on December 22nd. The bout was broadcast on Christmas Day.

The former TNT Champion first planned to tackle Everest in April 2024 but he was forced to postpone the trip after breaking his foot in a match against Jay White that March. Allin briefly returned at Double or Nothing for Anarchy in the Arena, but he wouldn’t return to the ring full-time until July.

Back in December, Darby Allin claimed he wanted to plant an AEW flag on Everest to show what the All Elite family is capable of.
