Veteran Member Of AEW’s Death Riders Reveals If Group Will Add More Wrestlers
A valuable member of AEW’s Death Riders group has commented on whether they plan to add more wrestlers to the stable.
The Death Riders stable is led by the former 4-time AEW World Champion, Jon Moxley.
Originally, the Death Riders began as a group called the Blackpool Combat Club, led by William Regal. After Regal left the company, the group lost its way.
In September 2024, Jon Moxley and Claudio Castagnoli turned on fellow BCC member Bryan Danielson, and they formed the Death Riders, with Pac and Marina Shafir joining the group. Moxley won the AEW World Title soon after and dominated the company for the next year.
Initially, for over a year, The Death Riders were a heel stable that terrorized people in AEW, prompting babyface wrestlers to team up to try to stop the group. In 2026, the Death Riders have been more like babyfaces without ever really changing that much.
Daniel Garcia joined the group after turning on his friends, while Gabe Kidd has been an associate. Will Ospreay also trains with the group to learn more about submission wrestling and to become tougher, but he’s not a full-fledged Death Rider.
Claudio Castagnoli spoke to 107.7 The Bone about life as a Death Rider and if they plan on expanding the group.
“I kind of still look at (Wheeler) Yuta and (Daniel) Garcia as our projects that we bring up. And I’m extremely proud of both of them. They’re both amazing talents and they both keep me on my toes.
I don’t look for new talent like that, or I don’t look at anybody, even when Garcia joined us, we didn’t necessarily go out and scout or whatever you would do.
If somebody needs to find their way to us, they’ll find their way to us.” (H/T Wrestletalk)
Jon Moxley Admits The Death Riders Name Has No Meaning
During a recent interview, AEW Continental Champion Jon Moxley spoke about how proud he was of the Death Riders.
“I don’t think there’s anything I’ve ever done that I’m more proud of in my career than what we’ve built with the Death Riders.”
Following that statement, Moxley admitted there’s no specific meaning to the Death Riders’ name.
“Death Riders means nothing. It’s just words put together. I like it because it’s kind of that wrestling Japanglish, because there was some kind of commercial with a jacket from Goodwill that said ‘Death Riders’ that I think was like the motorcycle guys who ride around inside the big steel ball at the carnival, which I’ve never done.
So, I have no idea what it means or where it comes from, but in Japan they started calling me The Death Rider, and started calling – it’s a word that means nothing. But to me, it means something now.”
Moxley also spoke about what the Death Riders have meant to him.
“I don’t think I would be here if not for these people. I don’t know what I would be doing. I might be in jail by this point if not for this group of people.
You know, like a couple years ago, I’m looking around and I still look around to this day and I’m like, I’m surrounded by clowns everywhere. And I listen to people talk and I’m like, do you even know what you’re talking about? Are we even talking about wrestling? I don’t think you even know what you’re talking about.”
This past week on AEW Dynamite, it was announced that Jon Moxley will defend the Continental Championship against Bandido at Forbidden Door on June 28th.
