Liv Morgan’s Latest Victim Breaks Silence On WWE RAW Debut: “This Is Not What I Was Expecting”
The RAW after WrestleMania often sets the tone for new faces, and this year followed the same pattern. An NXT star made her RAW debut against Liv Morgan tonight.
On the latest edition of Monday Night RAW, former NXT Women’s North American Champion Sol Ruca made her main roster debut. She interrupted Women’s World Champion Liv Morgan, who was celebrating her championship victory at WrestleMania 42.
The 26-year-old star apologized to The Judgment Day member and said Morgan was her inspiration. The latter, however, insulted Sol and told her to get out of the ring. Sol Ruca said she won’t back down from a fight, and a match between the two was booked.
Both women engaged in a back-and-forth during the bout, and at one point, Ruca countered Morgan’s Oblivion. The NXT standout also hit her signature move, Sol Snatcher, but Morgan rolled out of the ring. In the closing moments, Zaria showed up and attacked Sol, allowing the Women’s World Champion to pick up the win.
Sol Ruca opens up on match against Liv Morgan on WWE RAW
Speaking on the WWE RAW Recap after the show, Sol Ruca opened up about her main roster debut and made it clear that the opportunity came as a surprise. She said she initially traveled for WWE World matches and media work before being informed she would appear on the Monday Night Show.
It feels absolutely incredible. This is not what I was expecting at all. I came here to do (WWE) World matches, some media stuff, and then a few days in they were like, ‘Actually, you’re gonna be on RAW.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, okay, cool, good thing I brought extra clothes and gear and stuff.’
Ruca admitted she initially thought it might be a minor role, such as a backstage segment or a crowd appearance. Instead, she was given a promo, a match, and additional responsibilities.
According to the star, sharing the ring with the Women’s World Champion helped boost her confidence.
Honestly I thought it was gonna be a crowd shot or a backstage or what have you. And getting here they were like, ‘Promo, match, interviews, all that.’ And I’m like, ‘Alright, this is it, this is my time to make my moment and prove myself.’
Especially being in the ring with Liv Morgan who just came off of a huge win at WrestleMania, and her mic work, her ring work is so incredible, and to be put in that position, it honestly gave me a confidence boost, like, ‘Yeah, clearly they know that I can do this and I’m here for a reason.’ [H/T WrestleTalk]
Sol Ruca is set to face Zaria in a Last Woman Standing bout on NXT. It will be interesting to see who emerges victorious.
