Kenny Omega Names Top WWE Star As “The Real Deal”

Kenny Omega

Kenny Omega has some strong words of support for one of the biggest names in WWE today.

As a former AEW and IWGP (New Japan) World Champion, Kenny Omega is considered one of the best wrestlers in the world that has competed at the highest levels outside of WWE. However, he’s not afraid to share his opinions on people that work for WWE.

As a veteran in pro wrestling for nearly 20 years, Omega got to work with Kevin Owens a lot before Owens made it big in WWE. They wrested eachother at PWG in 2009 and also in ROH in 2010 as well. Owens ended up signing with WWE in late 2014 and has been there ever since, so it’s unknown if their paths will ever cross again.

Kenny Omega and Owens also have something else in common. They are also Canadians since Omega is from Winnipeg and Owens is from Marieville, Quebec, which is just outside of Montreal.

On Twitter, Omega reacted to a tweet posting highlights from one of their ROH matches from 2010 when Owens was wrestling using his real name, Kevin Steen.

“Even though we only did it a few times and on very short notice, it was always a joy. He’s been the real deal for a looong time.”

Kenny Omega is in the midst of a Best of Seven series for the AEW Trios Tag Team Titles with The Young Bucks (the trio is known as The Elite) as they compete against Death Triangle. The series is at 3-2 for Death Triangle after The Elite picked up the win in a No DQ match on the December 21st episode of Dynamite.

As for Owens, he’s in a top babyface position in WWE as he does his best to take down The Bloodline. Owens will team up with John Cena against Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn on the last Smackdown of 2022 on December 30th.
