John Cena Moves Thousands Of Tickets For Upcoming WWE Show

John Cena thinking

Over twenty years after debuting in the company, John Cena is still adding value to WWE after thousands of tickets sold for an event Cena was announced for.

It was previously announced that 16-time WWE Champion and the man that Michael Cole calls the “Greatest of All-Time” John Cena will be on the December 30th episode of Smackdown in Tampa, which is where Cena lives.

On the December 16th edition of Smackdown, things stepped up a notch as it was revealed that Cena will not only appear on Smackdown but also have a match. John Cena will team up with a man he has a storied history with – Kevin Owens – on the show to face The Bloodline’s tag team of Sami Zayn and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted the number of tickets that had been sold since John Cena was announced for the event in Tampa:

“We always say, and it’s true, ‘It’s the brand and not the guy’, but John Cena is the exception. They’ve sold 4,000 tickets in Tampa since he was announced on that show, which is amazing. You know, he is the exception to the rule. If you’re wondering, ‘Is anyone a draw?’ It’s like, well, he is.”

The match will be Cena’s first in WWE since a live event in September 2021 when he teamed with The Mysterios to defeat Reigns and The Usos. The match also keeps alive the streak of John Cena competing in a WWE match in every calendar year since he debuted for the company in 2002.
