Kazuchika Okada WWE Bound; Could Start In NXT

Kazuchika Okada

The future of Kazuchika Okada remains up in the air but a new report suggests that the NJPW legend is heading to WWE.

Kazuchika Okada rocked the wrestling world when he revealed he was leaving NJPW. Okada’s contract with the Japanese promotion ends on January 31st leaving the star to sign elsewhere with his most likely destinations being WWE or AEW.

Reports suggested AEW was the frontrunner to sign Kazuchika Okada and his history with the company can’t be ignored. Okada has competed in an AEW ring as recently as October 2023 and featured on both Forbidden Door shows. However, could WWE have pipped Tony Khan’s company at the post?

Kazuchika Okada To NXT?

Monthly Puroresu has reported that despite other reports it seems that The Rainmaker could be heading to WWE and could even begin there in NXT:

Although we’re unable to verify with The Rainmaker himself, one source close to NJPW’s top talent has indicated to Monthly Puroresu that it appears Okada is WWE bound, potentially starting in NXT first.

A move to NXT might be unpalatable to many fans who have seen Okada headline Wrestle Kingdom in the Tokyo Dome eight times and capture the IWGP Heavyweight/World Heavyweight Championship on seven different occasions. Just what The Rainmaker’s future holds, however, remains to be seen.
