Kazuchika Okada To Seemingly Miss Forbidden Door

Top NJPW star Kazuchika Okada will miss AEW’s collaboration with NJPW at Forbidden Door, if comments on this week’s Dynamite are to be believed.

Contests are gradually starting to stack up the card for Forbidden Door with less than two weeks to go before the landmark event, however despite his best efforts ‘Hangman’ Adam Page is still without an opponent.

On the 8th June edition of AEW Dynamite, the former AEW World Champion set his sights on a man familiar with NJPW gold, multi-time former IWGP World Champion ‘The Rainmaker’ Kazuchika Okada.

A week later Page followed up on his challenge, stating that he still wanted to face Okada despite his recent title loss at NJPW Dominion to Jay White.

However, this instead brought Adam Cole to the ring, who in turned introduced new IWGP Champion White. Instead of appearing with Cole, White attacked Page from behind leaving him laying, before claiming that no matter how many times he calls out Kazuchika Okada for Forbidden Door, ‘The Rainmaker’ won’t be there.

With White then announcing that the IWGP World Championship would be on the line at Forbidden Door, Adam Cole was ecstatic on the ramp thinking he was about to get the shot. His mood was soon dampened when White said that Cole wasn’t going to be the challenger, and left a cliffhanger with not announcing who his opponent would be.

Also announced on the 15th June episode of Dynamite was a trios match for Forbidden Door, where new Jericho Appreciation Society member Sammy Guevara will team with Chris Jericho and Minoru Suzuki will take on Eddie Kingston, Shota Umino and Wheeler Yuta.
