Karrion Kross Reveals He Had Backstage Heat With Triple H Before WWE Exit

Karrion Kross & WWE CCO Triple H

Karrion Kross addressed his relationship with Triple H ahead of his WWE exit.

The Devil You Know had a brief run in the Stamford-based company between 2020 and 2021. Although he was released, the 40-year-old returned alongside his wife, Scarlett, in 2022. At the time, the couple credited Triple H for bringing them back to WWE.

However, Kross’ relationship with The Game seemingly took a significant hit after his fiery promo with Sam Roberts after WrestleMania 41, where the former NXT Champion heavily attacked and insulted WWE higher-ups for not giving him enough opportunities.

While he later explained that the promo was a work, it did not sit well with WWE executives, including Triple H. In his recent interview with Ariel Helwani, Kross revealed that higher-ups were offended by his comments because they believed them to be legitimate.

I let everybody know, let’s make sure this is somewhat protected from the audience, but let everyone know internally that this is a work… Sure enough, not everybody knew that that was a work. People were very upset with it because they thought it was real. We see people, specifically, like higher-ups, I’ll say higher-ups. They were offended.

The former Monday Night RAW star added that WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H was also upset with the promo. Kross disclosed that he once waited for The Game outside the production meeting to explain the situation to him and clear the air. After their talk, the former NXT Champion believed their relationship was fine.

I one day I waited for Hunter outside the production meeting. Once was actually brought to my attention that he was not okay with it, and I explained everything to him. No one told him anything. So as far as I know, at that point, we were good, but everyone was under the impression, a lot of people like, I just lost my mind. I was just trying to do my job. That’s my job. That day was to make people believe like any other day. [H/T: WrestlingNews.Co]

Karrion Kross Couldn’t Discuss His Contract Renewal With Triple H Before His WWE Exit

During his interview with Ariel Helwani, Karrion Kross disclosed that he was not allowed to discuss his contract renewal directly with Triple H despite having a conversation with him about the same earlier this year.

The 40-year-old explained that a “point man” was put between him and The Game. When asked whether he would text the WWE Chief Content Officer, Kross was unsure what he would send him. He pointed out that Triple H knew what he wanted, and the point man claimed everything he said came from The Game and WWE higher-ups.

Karrion Kross: I spoke…I had a conversation with him (Triple H) earlier in the year about all of this. They took a point man and they put him between us to communicate. So, now the point manager’s responsible for all the dialog.

Ariel Helwani: You can’t circumvent that guy you have a personal relationship with Paul.

Kross: He knows that I wanna talk. He know what I wanna do.

Helwani: Are you tempted to send him a text?

Kross: I don’t know what I would send him. That guy, who they put in front of them to talk to me is telling me that everything is coming from them. I’ve made it very, very clear that I wanna keep the lanes of communication and dialog open. It’s a very weird situation.

Karrion Kross also revealed that the Stamford-based company did not offer his wife, Scarlett, a new deal. He also explained the surprising reason why AEW didn’t contact him after his WWE exit.
