JTG Comments on Why Shad Gaspard Should Win WWE’s Warrior Award, Their Friendship, More

The tag team known as Cryme Tyme were one of the most popular teams in WWE during their run in the late 2000s until their run ended in 2010. After they moved on from WWE, the group’s two members JTG and Shad Gaspard continued to team up and remained very close friends along the way. Sadly, Shad left us way too early when he drowned in the ocean earlier this year. During that moment back in May, Shad saved his son Aryeh’s life. It was a heroic act that will never be forgotten by his family, friends and fans all around the world. Shad passed away at 39 years of age. Far too soon.

JTG was recently interviewed by friend of the site Chris Van Vliet on CVV’s Youtube channel and Chris sent along these comments from JTG talking about his buddy Shad.

JTG thinks Shad Gaspard should receive the Warrior Award:

“He definitely should. I don’t know what’s a bigger heroic act than putting his life on the line for his son. But honestly, he would have done it if it was another child. If it was me, he probably would have did the same exact thing.”

How often he thinks about Shad:

“Every day. I’ve got a lot of photos in my room of Shad. I have so many photos of Shad in my phone. When I’m scrolling, I can’t get away from him. But it’s a good thing though.”

How close he and Shad were:

“I don’t know if a lot of people know this but me and Shad were best friends. We were like brothers. We were pretty much like family. I spent a few Thanksgivings with him and his family. If I had an issue or financial problem or if I just had like personal problems, he was there for me. He was always there for me.”

Here’s a clip of their conversation. The full interview will be posted on Chris Van Vliet’s Youtube channel tomorrow.

TJR Thoughts: I strongly agree with JTG about that WWE Warrior Award going to Shad and his family. It was a heroic act for sure.
