Jon Moxley In Shocking Loss On AEW Dynamite
Jon Moxley is quickly unravelling in AEW.
Jon Moxley once had an iron grip on AEW as the company’s world champion, backed up by his followers in the Death Riders. In recent weeks, the group’s numbers have swelled with Daniel Garcia turning his back on longtime friend Matt Menard to join Moxley’s crew while PAC made his long-awaited return to AEW to help Moxley defeat Darby Allin in a coffin match at All Out.
Allin was not done with Moxley, however, and at WrestleDream the two men clashed again in an I Quit match. Jon Moxley was forced to rely on the Death Riders again as they swarmed Allin, going as far as to set up an aquarium in the ring where Moxley tried to drown Allin.
Sting made his shock return to AEW to save his former tag team partner, taking out the Death Riders and carrying Marina Shafir away from ringside. That left Darby Allin to lock Moxley in the Scorpion Deathlock to make him give up in short order.
Jon Moxley Punches Referee
Now, on the October 22nd edition of Dynamite, Jon Moxley was in action again against The Conglomeration’s Kyle O’Reilly. Many expected Moxley to pick up the victory; however, he panicked when locked in the ankle lock and punched referee Paul Turner to cause the disqualification, handing O’Reilly the victory.
Even worse was to come for the Death Riders as Claudio Castagnoli, Wheeler Yuta, and Daniel Garcia lost a trios match to Mark Briscoe, Orange Cassidy, and Roderick Strong.
