Jon Moxley’s Likely AEW All Out Opponent Revealed

Jon Moxley poses in the ring

Following his stunning victory over CM Punk on Dynamite, a new report has given an update on the next challenger for Jon Moxley.

On the August 24th edition of AEW Dynamite, CM Punk and Jon Moxley met in their much-anticipated clash to determine the Undisputed AEW World Champion. Moxley was the reigning Interim Champion while Punk was out of action with a broken foot.

The match went on in the middle of the show and was shockingly short for such a high-profile bout. Early in the match, Punk landed a vicious kick to Moxley which seemed to reinjure his foot. Moxley then went on the attack, hitting two Death Rider DDTs to score the victory in under five minutes.

When speaking backstage later in the show, the now undisputed champion made no mention of what’s next for the first-ever two-time AEW World Champion despite All Out being on the horizon.

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that the plan for the event is for CM Punk and Jon Moxley to meet in a rematch.

“It should be revealed quick. They probably should reveal it today on the internet because it’s getting late. We’ve only got a couple of days, like just over a week. But it is Punk and Moxley. I don’t know whether they’re going to add stips [stipulations] for whatever, but that is the main event.

It should be announced. They should probably get a promo from Punk up, like as quickly as possible if not, Friday.

I know at the taping Punk didn’t do anything live but they should probably do something from a backstage standpoint. But they need to… waiting till Wednesday for the main event, you can do it, the decisions to buy pay-per-views is usually a last minute decision anyway, but it’s probably better to get the main event out a couple of weeks ahead of time, and Friday would be eight days ahead of time.”
