John Cena’s Retirement Makes WWE History
John Cena retired from WWE at Saturday Night’s Main Event against Gunther.
Before he had his final match, The Champ did a few things that fans had been waiting for, for a really long time!
He turned heel, won the record-breaking 17th World Championship, won the Intercontinental Championship that made him a Grand Slam Champion, turned babyface again, and finally hung up his boots.
John Cena’s WrestleMania match made WWE history
Never Seen 17 main-event Night 2 of WrestleMania 41 against then-Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. He dethroned The American Nightmare at the event and secured the 17th world championship.
Now, according to live event trade publication Pollstar, the number of tickets sold for Night 2 has been revealed. WWE sold tickets worth $6,553,883 for Night 2. This marked the biggest ever arena gate of all time in the Stamford-based promotion’s history.
Before this, the record was held by WrestleMania V. However, now John Cena’s final WrestleMania has taken over that position even after adjusting for inflation.
John Cena’s final match against Gunther hasn’t gone down the best with the WWE Universe. No one expected him to tap out against The Ring General. However, The Champ has claimed that it was the perfect end to his WWE career and mimicked his pro-wrestling career.
