John Cena Pays Tribute To WWE Star Ahead Of Retirement

WWE John Cena

John Cena has paid tribute to one WWE star who could be about to follow him into retirement in the very near future.

On December 13th 2025, the illustrious career of John Cena came to an end at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Billed as Cena’s final match, the 17-time WWE Champion went head-to-head with Gunther. In the end, Cena could not cope with the relentlessness of The Ring General and meekly tapped out to bring his 20-plus-year career to an anticlimactic end.

But Cena was not Gunther’s only victim in 2025. In the summer, Gunther put WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg out to pasture with a huge win as well. And on January 31st, Gunther has the chance to make it a hat trick of retirements when he takes on AJ Styles. This time, the match is not being billed as the last of Styles’ career, but he will be forced to retire if he loses.

John Cena Loves Bullet Club AJ Styles

Ahead of that match, John Cena has taken to social media to pay tribute to the man he considers the greatest of all time, as he shared an image of Styles at the height of his Bullet Club success as IWGP Heavyweight Champion.

While there is no guarantee that Styles will retire at the Royal Rumble, one WWE star may have spoiled the outcome of his match. Either way, the former WWE Champion has made clear that he is winding down his career and plans to hang up his boots in 2026.
