John Cena Pays Tribute To WWE Star Ahead Of Royal Rumble
John Cena has paid tribute to one of his long-standing rivals-turned-friends ahead of the Royal Rumble.
In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, AJ Styles will go one-on-one against Gunther in a singles match with his career on the line.
Their rivalry kicked off immediately after John Cena’s retirement at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, 2025.
Since making the 17-time World Champion tap out, The Ring General has been gloating about being the best wrestler in the company. In doing so, he has claimed that Cena tapped out like a b**ch.
Evidently, The Phenomenal One did not take it lightly, even slapping the 38-year-old after his constant insults towards the future Hall of Famer.
The two squared off on the January 12 episode of WWE Raw, where Styles made Gunther tap out. However, he tapped out in a way that was blocked from the referee’s vision.
Styles immediately released the hold and celebrated. The referee contradicted the 48-year-old star, announcing that the match would continue.
Gunther immediately attacked Styles and hit a Powerbomb for the win.
John Cena Honors AJ Styles
John Cena faced AJ Styles in a critically acclaimed match at Crown Jewel in October.
The legends of the business went over 25 minutes, during which they hit a string of moves that honored some of their past rivals from WWE and TNA.
Cena ultimately won by hitting an Attitude Adjustment.
Ahead of Styles’ match, the 17-time World Champion took to Instagram to share a captionless picture of the The Phenomenal One.
It is safe to say who Cena supports in Styles’ match against the “Career Killer.”
