John Cena Didn’t Sell His Soul.. Relationship With The Rock Finally Revealed

John Cena and The Rock at WWE Elimination Chamber

The latest revelation suggests that John Cena did not sell his soul to The Rock.

To the uninitiated, the soul-selling storyline involved The Great One and Cody Rhodes. It was on the February 21 episode of SmackDown when the former delivered a cryptic promo.

At the 2025 Elimination Chamber PLE, Rhodes gave his final reply, telling The Rock to “go f*ck yourself.”

The segment took a dark turn when Cena, then-16-time world champion, shocked the world by turning heel by attacking ‘The American Nightmare.’

He faced Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 for the Undisputed WWE Championship, which he would win to become a record 17-time champion.

The premium live event was also the last time fans saw The Rock, and ever since, multiple reports about his disappearance have emerged, with various theories floating around.

WWE: Unreal Reveals John Cena’s Status With The Rock

The Stamford promotion released its new docuseries, WWE: Unreal, in affiliation with Netflix. The 5-episode series takes viewers behind the scenes, offering an inside look at the production of various shows.

In one episode, Triple H is seen planning the Elimination Chamber segment with The Rock, which involved John Cena’s heel turn.

When the discussion touches upon the nature of their alliance, ‘The Brahma Bull’ says:

I think the whole time, it’s business with me and John. I don’t think it has to do with our souls, his soul. It’s just business.

In pop culture, selling one’s soul indicates a character’s villainous persona until the end. Now that Cena’s status is confirmed, is a babyface turn around the corner?

While we wait for answers, Cody Rhodes will challenge John Cena for the Undisputed WWE Championship in a Street Fight at SummerSlam.
