Jeff Jarrett Won’t Rule Out Bid For TNA
TNA co-founder Jeff Jarrett won’t rule out buying the company if it were ever back on the market.
Jeff Jarrett started TNA alongside his father, famed promoter Jerry Jarrett back in 2002. Although he became a minority owner after Panda Energy bought a 72% stake in TNA later the same year, Jeff Jarrett was a major part of the promotion, holding the NWA World Heavyweight Title six times while it was part of that organisation.
In 2013, Jarrett joined forces with country music star Toby Keith to buy TNA from Panda Energy CEO Bob Carter. However, Carter’s condition that his daughter Dixie remain as on-screen President as well as having some power in the company. This led to the potential deal falling apart and Jarrett instead went on to found the short-lived Global Force Wrestling.
Would Jeff Jarrett Be Interested In Buying TNA Now?
Duirng a Q&A on his My World podcast, Jarrett was asked about his interest in buying TNA if it went on the market now. The veteran said he would look at anything in the wrestling business if it came up, but the price would have to be right.
“Like anything, anything in the wrestling business, I’m interested in that, and what are they valued at? People get into these valuations, and I don’t care what it is. You can come up with all the valuations you want in the world, you gotta find a buyer, period, and then that buyer has to agree with that evaluation.
“Other than that, it’s just great fodder, if you will. I’m not discounting tax situations and all that kind of stuff, but certainly, I’d take a look at anything, and if Conrad says, ‘Let’s do it,’ I’d say, ‘Let’s do it,’ [laughs] “
TNA has had a resurgence of late after beginning a new partnership with WWE, specifically NXT. However, fans were divided over the recent decision to crown Nic Nemeth TNA World Champion at Slammiversary.
