Jade Cargill lost the WWE Women’s Championship to Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 42 on Night 2 on Sunday.

Cargill had won the championship last year on November 1 after defeating Tiffany Stratton at Saturday Night’s Main Event at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City.

During her 169-day reign as WWE Women’s Champion, Jade Cargill only defended her title once on TV, and it was against Jordynne Grace on the February 13, 2026, episode of Friday Night SmackDown in Dallas, Texas.

Jade Cargill Calls Her Recent Championship Reign a “Practice Run” Following WrestleMania Loss

Following her title loss to Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 42, Jade Cargill sat down for an interview with SI’s Takedown, where she reflected on her run as WWE Women’s Champion.

Cargill admitted frustration with her booking as champion, as she wanted more out of her reign. She stated that she wanted to wrestle more and have more competitive matches during her title run. However, she did not get that opportunity.

Jade Cargill then called her recent WWE Women’s Championship reign a “practice run” and promised that when she becomes a champion again, it will be “totally different” from her previous one.

“I wanted to wrestle more. I wanted more competitive matches. I wanted more grit. I really wanted to sink my teeth into whatever was being thrown at me. That’s all I wanted with my reign, but we didn’t get that as much as I wanted, and that’s fine.

But now that I had a practice run, I’m gonna call it a practice run, I’m gonna say next time is gonna be totally different.”

Jade Cargill’s recent WWE Women’s Championship run was her first world title reign in WWE. Before that, she had held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship twice with her former tag team partner Bianca Belair.

Speaking of Bianca, she recently announced that she is expecting her first child with her husband and fellow WWE superstar Montez Ford.
