This WWE star, who has called Triple H his “Wrestling Dad,” has had it rough this year, and there has been speculation about a move out of the company.

A week ago on SmackDown, Johnny Gargano, who has been portrayed as a depressed, lost-it-thought-like character in WWE since the departure of his tag team partner, Tommaso Ciampa, who left the company and joined AEW earlier this year, came out to the ring to issue an open challenge.

After a pep talk from his wife, Candice LeRae, Gargano stormed to the ring and said he wants to be “Johnny Wrestling” again and, in an attempt to gain his confidence back, issued an open challenge to the wrestlers backstage.

Unfortunately for Johnny Wrestling, the challenge was answered by the monstrous Oba Femi, who has been an unstoppable force since debuting on the main roster at the Royal Rumble this year.

Femi squashed Gargano in a match that barely lasted over a minute, making it Gargano’s fourth loss in as many bouts.

This, followed by a social media post from Gargano, fueled speculation of an exit for the star, but a new report has now emerged about the situation.

Johnny Wrestling Is Still Under Contract With WWE Under Triple H’s Regime

Johnny Gargano, who has called Triple H his “Wrestling Dad”, had a lot of success in NXT.

He is an NXT Triple Crown Champion, having held the NXT Championship and the NXT Tag Team Championships once each. He has also held the NXT North American Championship 3 times, and although he hasn’t had the same success on the main roster, he’s still held the WWE Tag Team Titles twice with Tommaso Ciampa.

A new report has emerged from Fightful Select, which claims that the star is “firmly under contract” with WWE, effectively putting the rumours of Gargano’s exit to bed.

It remains to be seen how Gargano can be put over again after getting squashed a week ago, but for now, Johnny Wrestling is still very much going to be working with Triple H and co.
