Indie Wrestler Lars Luger & Mother Murdered; Suspect In Custody
The independent wrestling community is mourning the tragic loss of Lars Luger and his mother, Lori Simonds, who were shot and killed inside their home in Pleasanton last week. Luger was 28 years old, while his mother was 67.
According to ABC 7 News, the two were found dead in their residence by police officers. An arrest has since been made. Authorities confirmed that a 31-year-old man from San Jose has been taken into custody in connection with the murders.
Reports Say Suspect Was Connected To Victims, Lars Luger and Lori Simonds
Investigators revealed that the suspect had previously been in a relationship with a member of the victims’ family. Firearms were reportedly recovered from both his home and vehicle following his arrest. The investigation remains ongoing.
“This outcome is the result of our detectives working nonstop on this case. We appreciate the patience of our community as we worked through a rapidly evolving investigation, and I’m proud of the work done to keep the community safe,” Police Chief Tracy Avelar said in a recent official statement.
On the independent wrestling scene, Lars Luger was widely respected. Fellow wrestlers described him as positive, hardworking, and passionate about the business. He frequently performed with his family in attendance, cheering him on from the crowd, something many peers fondly remembered after the news broke.
Over the weekend, a local vigil was held to honor the lives of Lars Luger and his mother. Additionally, a GoFundMe campaign was launched for Luger’s sister to help cover funeral expenses, as friends, fans, and members of the wrestling community continue to show their support during an unimaginably difficult time.
