Gunther To Retire 44-Year-Old Former WWE Champion?
This WWE Legend joked about someone Gunther should retire
Gunther has been dubbed “The Career Killer” by WWE. After defeating and retiring major WWE names such as Bill Goldberg and John Cena last year, The Ring General’s latest victim was AJ Styles, whom he retired at the 2026 Royal Rumble PLE.
Former WWE Champion John “Bradshaw” Layfield (JBL) recently posted on X joking that Gunther should retire WWE commentator and former WWE 24/7 Champion Byron Saxton and turn babyface.

Gunther’s Direction Leading Up To WrestleMania 42 Remains Unclear
He was attacked by AJ Styles’ tag team partner Dragon Lee on Raw last week, but the Ring General came out on top.
Since he is not in the title picture for either of the top two WWE titles, the 2026 Royal Rumble Runner’s Up will likely continue his feud with Dragon Lee.
There has also been speculation of a possible match with Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 42.
