Gunther May Retire Another WWE Legend At WrestleMania

Gunther almost won the Royal Rumble men’s match, but Roman Reigns overpowered him.

In the final moments of the men’s match, Gunther eliminated Randy Orton. Following that, Roman Reigns eliminated The Ring General.

The OTC will challenge for a world championship at WrestleMania 42.

Gunther’s future as the new ‘Legend Killer’

While Reigns’ WrestleMania path is established, The Ring General’s is yet to be finalized.

On Notsam Wrestling, Sam Roberts explored a situation where WWE focuses on Gunther vs. Randy Orton for WrestleMania 42. The Viper talks down to The Ring General and reminds him that he is the original Legend Killer. To this, Orton responds by claiming that he is the career killer.

I think what you’re going to get, especially after the Royal Rumble match and Gunther eliminating Randy Orton, I think Gunther versus Randy Orton is your Wrestlemania match. And I don’t know if they throw a retirement stipulation on it or if it just naturally becomes part of the conversation because of who Randy Orton or because of who Gunther is.

But I think there’s going to be a promo, and I would love it if Randy Orton says, “Gunther. You fancy yourself quite the legend, don’t you?”

And that’s all you’re going to need. The minute Randy Orton says, “Gunther after retiring, what’d you say, Gunther? You have the longest Intercontinental title reign of all time. Is that right? Two-time world heavyweight champion. Is that right? You retired Bill Goldberg. John Cena, you made him tap out like a what? Wow. Okay. Okay. And you retired AJ Styles, too, huh? You must consider yourself quite the legend then, don’t you? Well, if I should say so. What? You just met the legend killer.

“Well, Randy, I’m the career killer.”

Randy Orton versus Gunther at WrestleMania is money. You don’t need to put a retirement stip on it. You could have Gunther saying, “I’m going to end your career.” and have us speculating wildly without actually putting it formally.

The Ring General vs. Randy Orton can be on the match card if WWE wants to tell the story between the two legend killers.
