A former WWE Superstar suffered a serious blow tonight at AEW Double or Nothing as he failed to advance in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament.

AEW Double or Nothing took place at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York. The Quarterfinal for the 2026 Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament got underway with a matchup with significant stakes on both sides.

Will Ospreay came in riding genuine momentum following a comeback from a serious injury. His opponent, Samoa Joe, came in with a point to prove after months of demanding that Ospreay walk away from his current allegiances. Neither man was willing to back down, and only one advanced.

Joe had spent weeks demanding Ospreay ditch Jon Moxley and the Death Riders and instead offered him to join The Opps. But Ospreay refused every time.

Tonight at Double or Nothing, before the opening bell even rang, Ospreay blindsided Joe with a springboard Oscutter, following up with a 450 Splash and a tight armbar. The former AEW World Champion quickly shifted the momentum, catching Ospreay out of a cartwheel dive and trapping him in a standing Coquina Clutch before throwing him into the barricade.

Back in the ring, Joe targeted Ospreay’s neck with heavy punches, a running boot, and brutal chops. The Aerial Assassin managed to get his knees up during a senton attempt and countered a Muscle Buster by stomping Joe’s left arm.

The final moments saw the former WWE United States Champion lock in the Coquina Clutch again, but Ospreay barely touched the ropes to break it. Ospreay then executed a shocking Styles Clash, followed by two consecutive Hidden Blades to secure the final pinfall.

With this win, The Aerial Assassin officially punched his ticket to the tournament semifinals. He is now scheduled to face the winner of the upcoming match between Mark Davis and Jack Perry.

This victory brought Ospreay one step closer to winning the entire tournament, with the finals scheduled for Forbidden Door on June 28 in San Jose, California. The eventual winner will earn a future AEW World Championship opportunity.
