Former World Champion Close To WWE In-Ring Return

A WWE Hall of Famer is close to a return to the ring.

Rey Mysterio was pulled from WrestleMania 41 at the 11th hour after suffering a significant injury. The veteran had been due to face El Grande Americano, but 24 hours earlier on SmackDown, he sustained an injury while teaming with Dragon Lee and Rey Fenix to defeat American Made.

It was later revealed that Mysterio had suffered a torn groin, and he quickly underwent surgery.

Although the star has continued to make appearances on television, his in-ring career has been on hold, but that could be about to change.

According to a new report from Mike Johnson via PWInsider Elite, Mysterio is finally getting close to a return to the ring. As noted by Johnson, the legend isn’t cleared to return to the ring yet, but he’s scheduled to be at the Performance Center in the coming week. This is part of the ongoing process to get the green light.

Rey Mysterio Open To Rematch With WWE Rival

In a recent appearance on the Raw Recap, Rey Mysterio commented on Dominik Mysterio’s upcoming match for the Mega Championship. Mysterio is set to challenge Hijo del Vikingo for the title at Worlds Collide on September 12.

The elder Mysterio explained that he’s been trying to move on from their feud and let bygones be bygones; however, that could change if Dominik wins the title. Rey has famously never been the Mega Champion despite starring with AAA earlier in his career.

As such, Rey Mysterio admitted that he’d “tip his mask twice” if his son walked away with the gold.
