WWE Extreme Rules Will Make Women’s Wrestling History

A championship contest scheduled for WWE’s Extreme Rules event on 8 October will make history for women’s wrestling in the company!

With Extreme Rules 2022 looking like a ‘proper’ Extreme Rules card for the first time in several years with a number of stipulation contests confirmed, one such encounter will make history for the company’s female Superstars.

At the 8 October premium live event, Bayley will challenge Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship in a Ladder Match. As pointed out by @WrestleOps on Twitter, the encounter will mark the inaugural one-on-one women’s Ladder Match on the main roster.

Bianca Belair and Bayley have been at loggerheads since the latter returned from injury at SummerSlam, forming Damage CTRL alongside Dakota Kai and IYO SKY. Bayley subsequently became the first WWE Superstar to pin ‘The EST of WWE’ in almost a year at Clash At The Castle.

As it stands, only two women’s Ladder Matches have been contested in WWE history, both of which were held in NXT. Mia Yim battled Io Shirai in November 2019, which was followed that April with Yim, Shirai, Chelsea Green, Tegan Nox, Dakota Kai, and Candice LeRae contesting a six-way contest.

WWE Extreme Rules takes place on Saturday, 8 October, airing live on Peacock for viewers in the United States, and via the WWE Network elsewhere.
