Ex-WWE Tag Team Champions Officially Split Before RAW
A pair of former WWE Tag Team Champions have officially called it quits.
On the February 27th edition of SmackDown, the world of RHIYO was rocked when Nia Jax and Lash Legend dethroned Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY as WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.
While SKY had time to rue that loss, Rhea Ripley was back in the thick of things almost immediately at Elimination Chamber as she entered the demonic structure with her sights set on a title shot at WrestleMania 42. That match came down to Ripley and Tiffany Stratton, with Ripley picking up the victory.
But what does that mean for RHIYO?
Rhea Ripley Admits WWE Tag Team On Hold
Speaking on the Elimination Chamber Recap Show, Rhea Ripley admitted that her tag team with IYO SKY is now on the back burner:
Obviously, the tag team stuff might have to be put on hold for a little bit, but whatever she’s doing, I’m still going to be there for her and vice versa. It’s kind of sad to think about, because I feel like IYO has kind of been in my life here in the WWE over the past what, year and a half? We’ve been pretty much inseparable, whether we’ve been facing each other or we’ve been tagging together, just growing that bond. [H/T: 411Mania]
With Liv Morgan choosing to challenge Stephanie Vaquer for the Women’s World Championship at WrestleMania 42, it looks like Rhea Ripley will take on Jade Cargill for the WWE Women’s Title in Las Vegas.
