Drew McIntyre On WWE SmackDown Promo: “I Was Legitimately Upset”

Drew McIntyre cut a scathing promo on WWE SmackDown in response to CM Punk and Roman Reigns.

Roman Reigns and CM Punk had a promo battle of sorts on Raw a few weeks ago after Reigns decided to face Punk for the latter’s World Heavyweight Championship following his Royal Rumble win.

The two had a heated promo where they dressed each other down, but also, oddly, threw shade at WWE Undisputed Champion Drew McIntyre and the SmackDown brand.

Fans and critics did not understand this trashing of the company’s own joint top champion and star.

Drew McIntyre didn’t hold back and unloaded the following week on SmackDown by insulting Reigns and Punk and declaring himself, his title, and his brand the best.

Drew McIntyre Reveals He Was Legitimately Upset By Punk and Reigns’ Promo

During McIntyre’s recent appearance on the Busted Open Podcast, hosts Bully Ray and Mark Henry asked The Scottish Warrior why CM Punk and Roman Reigns dressed him down despite being peers from the same promotion.

McIntyre opened up about the incident and revealed that he was “legitimately upset”, and it’s what led to his vitriol-fueled promo in response.

Like I don’t care say whatever you want about me I can protect myself. I look after myself verbally and to be honest, they weren’t even that bad. You know, whatever one person said I mentioned on Smackdown the other one defending me.

Y’know Punk tried to run his mouth as usual Roman pointed out in drew Have you crying over you know, the little plastic bracelets four times your size? Roman said I beat Drew years in a row. I get it, but they kind of defended me that didn’t bother me.

It was just the stuff about the title and SmackDown and making it feel a little less than when they’re such big superstars. Just focus on the title focus on each other. Yeah, I went out and did a braveheart like speech on the Friday because I was legitimately upset as far as I was concerned.

CM Punk Vs Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania has been confirmed. Drew McIntyre will have to wait to see who wins the Men’s Elimination Chamber Match to cement his WrestleMania opponent.
