Breaking: Drew McIntyre Loses WWE Title Match To Ex-Champion

Drew McIntyre WWE Champion

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre’s title was on the line once again at a recent event.

WWE is currently on a European tour with their shows, Raw and SmackDown, being held across Europe over the past couple of weeks.

SmackDown was live in Berlin, Germany, on January 16th, which saw a historic Three Stages Of Hell match take place for the WWE Undisputed Championship. The bout saw Drew McIntyre defeat Cody Rhodes in a 2-1 victory over the three stages to be crowned the new WWE Champion.

Bloodline member Jacob Fatu returned towards the end of the final Steel Cage match to interfere and attack both stars, leading McIntyre to exit the cage to win when Fatu engaged with Rhodes.

McIntyre then defended his title against Shinsuke Nakamura in his hometown of Glasgow, Scotland, a day later at a WWE live event.

Another live event took place at the Ergo Arena in Gdansk, Poland, on January 17th, where McIntyre’s title was on the line again against none other than Cody Rhodes (Results via fightful.com).

WWE Champion Drew McIntyre Loses Title Bout To Rhodes Via DQ

Towards the end of the match, after the pair exchanged punches, Drew McIntyre hit a low blow on Rhodes, causing a DQ. Although he lost the bout, McIntyre is still the WWE Champion, as the title doesn’t change hands in case of a DQ.

WWE live events are showcases for new fans to experience WWE main event stars in action, and major changes to storylines don’t occur as they do in WWE’s official TV shows, Raw and SmackDown.

In the current official storyline continuity, Cody Rhodes faced off against Jacob Fatu on the January 16th episode of SmackDown, and the two got into a fight that had to be stopped by security and general manager Nick Aldis. Rhodes will now officially face Fatu in a match at Saturday Night’s Main Event on January 24th, in Montreal, Canada.
