Donald Trump’s induction into the WWE Hall of Fame has been branded a disgrace by a wrestling legend.

The Celebrity Wing of the WWE Hall of Fame has long been a lightning rod for wrestling fans, with some not bothered that WWE chooses to honour celebrities that have brushed up against the business, while others feel a hall of fame should be used to honour those who made their career in the ring.

2013 saw one of the strongest WWE Hall of Fame classes of all time inducted, with the legendary Bruno Sammartino headlining a class that included Bob Backlund, Trish Stratus, Mick Foley, and Booker T. However, what happened over the following years means that the class of 2013 is best remembered for including Donald Trump.

Trump had not entered the world of politics at the time, but when he did, he became one of the most divisive figures in modern history. And now one of his detractors, and a fellow WWE Hall of Famer, is speaking out.

Jesse Ventura Disgusted By Donald Trump’s WWE Hall Of Fame Induction

Speaking on the Independent Americans podcast, former Governor of Minnesota Jesse Ventura spoke out about Donald Trump’s Hall of Fame induction, beginning with why it happened in the first place:

Well, you know why he got in? Because he provided us two buildings, I think. WrestleMania V and VI or something, where he probably made millions, off renting us his buildings to hold WrestleMania. And for that, Vince McMahon puts him in the Hall of Fame. It’s a disgrace.

Ventura noted that he’s almost resigned his own position as a Hall of Famer because of Trump’s inclusion:

I’ve almost resigned. Gone publicly and said, ‘I’m resigning from the Hall of Fame because Trump is in it, and he doesn’t qualify. Like everything he does, he’s not qualified. Just like when he wants the Nobel Peace Prize.

Jesse Ventura also noted that he wanted to give Donald Trump his discharge from the Navy so the US President could pretend he served in the forces:

You know what I wanted to do? And I could let you know right now. I wanted to call a meeting with Trump, and I was gonna give him my honorable discharge. That way, he’ll have one. Only thing is his name won’t be on it, but he can still hold it up. He can have a discharge from the United States Navy. I was gonna do that, ‘Mr. Trump, I’ll offer you a discharge from the United States Navy, so you can pretend you served. [h/t WrestleZone]
