How Dominik Mysterio Felt As John Cena’s Final WWE PLE Opponent
John Cena’s Farewell Tour involved several superstars such as AJ Styles, Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, Ron Killings, and Dominik Mysterio, among others.
The Champ started the Farewell Tour as a 16-time World Champion, but ended it as a 17th time world champion and a Grand Slam Champion.
He had dethroned Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship on the November 10th, 2025 episode of Monday Night RAW. This was the first time Cena won the IC Championship, and along with it, became a Grand Slam Champion.
Dominik Mysterio recalls being John Cena’s final WWE PLE opponent
Recently, the former Intercontinental Champion spoke on The Collection with Brad Gilmore. During the discussion, the topic of him being John Cena’s opponent in The Champ’s final premium live event came up.
The Judgment Day member revealed that it was surreal to be in the ring with Cena in his final PLE and final Survivor Series, and not only beating Cena but also walking out as a double champion!
Super, super surreal. Not only was it John Cena’s last PLE, last Survivor Series, it was the first wrestling event ever held at Petco Park in San Diego. Bro, I’m born and raised in San Diego. I’ve gone to (San Diego) Padres games my whole life. I lived there. Did a bunch of sh*t I shouldn’t have done downtown San Diego as well, but, got some great stories I can’t tell. But man, that was just so surreal for me. Walking in, in the city where I’m from, walking out as a double champion, beating John Cena, that sh*t’s insane. You can’t write it. Stuff like that, it just writes itself. It’s like a fairytale ending for me.
The current Intercontinental Champion is Penta. However, Mysterio has claimed that he will win it back and either walk into WrestleMania 42 as a double champion or walk out of The Show of Shows as one.
