Dax Harwood Names Two Huge NJPW Stars He Wants Tag Match With
Dax Harwood has a huge tag team match in mind against two of the biggest names in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
When it comes to tag team wrestling, it doesn’t get much better than the FTR team consisting of Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler. The duo are currently signed to All Elite Wrestling, but their three-year run in the company could come to an end since Harwood has mentioned that their deals expire in April.
During their run in WWE as The Revival, the duo won the Raw, Smackdown and NXT Tag Team Titles. Once they got out of WWE, they won the AEW, ROH, NJPW/IWGP and AAA Tag Team Titles as well. It’s very hard to not only win seven different major Tag Team Titles within a few years, but also be recognized as one of the best tag teams in the world as well.
While FTR’s future may be a bit of a mystery right now, Harwood has his eyes on NJPW’s IWGP Tag Team Titles especially if the “Dream Team” of IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada (a seven-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion) and former eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi.
The team of Okada & Tanahashi will team up against IWGP Tag Team Champions Hirooki Goto and YOSHI-HASHI for the titles at NJPW’s Anniversary Event on March 6th.
On his FTR with Dax Harwood podcast, Dax Harwood commented on the Okada/Tanahashi dream team while noting he would love it if FTR got a chance to face the two NJPW legends.
“So Okada grabbed the mic, and he talked about their rivalry with Tanahashi and how many times they fought, and he said he thinks it’s time to make the New Japan Dream Team. Okada and Tanahashi are going to gear up together.”
“He wants them to gear up together to go for the IWGP Tag Team Championships, and I’d be remiss to say that I don’t want to be involved in that.”
As he continued, Dax Harwood kept on talking about how it would be a dream for a match like that to happen.
“That’s a tag team match that I would love to be a part of in New Japan, especially for the IWGP Tag Team Championships. To be able to call myself and Cash two-time IWGP Tag Team Champions is a dream.”
“To have a tag team match FTR versus Okada and Tanahashi would be dream match material, I think, and that’s me patting myself on the back, but winning the IWGP Tag Team Championships from Okada and from Tanahashi would be bucket list stuff. So I’m throwing my name in the hat as well if that comes to fruition.”
