According to recent rumors, the daughter of a well-known AEW figure could soon be joining WWE.

AEW senior producer Dean Malenko’s daughter, Marie Malenko, recently took part in a WWE tryout. With rumors continuing to circulate, there’s a growing belief that she could end up signing with the company and eventually joining the NXT roster.

At the same time, Fightful reported that the Stamford-based promotion has also shown interest in another legacy name. Fit Finlay’s son, David Finlay, became a free agent earlier this month following his departure from NJPW. According to the report, WWE and Finlay have been in contact, although NJPW is said to be making strong efforts to bring him back.

Sources in WWE have said while there has been contact between David Finlay and WWE, he isn’t factored in to creative plans at the moment. We have not heard any recent updates between David Finlay and WWE, but there was contact at one point between the two sides. As reported this week, NJPW is actively trying to re-sign him.

Former AEW Wrestler Officially Joins WWE

Meanwhile, BodySlam.net has reported that independent standout Starboy Charlie has officially signed with the Stamford-based promotion under the WWE ID program. The signing reportedly came shortly after Charlie worked the February 20, 2026, edition of WWE Evolve tapings.

“WWE continues to scout the world for their WWE ID program and NXT/main roster deals. Sources indicate to Bodyslam that Starboy Charlie has a deal with WWE. Starboy Charlie worked tonight’s EVOLVE tapings. It is believed that he has a WWE ID deal at this time.”
