Date Confirmed For AEW TV Deal Announcement

AEW is on the precipice of a new era with a much-rumored Saturday night show on the way as well as tens of thousands of tickets already sold for Wembley Stadium.

TV rights are the lifeblood of any television wrestling company and AEW is no different. The company signed a four-year extension to its deal with WarnerMedia (the company which is now Warner Bros Discovery) back in early 2020 for $175 million but new riches look to be on the way.

The Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer has confirmed that the future of AEW on TBS and TNT will be revealed at the Warner Bros Discovery upfronts on May 17th. It is also believed that is when the new Saturday night show will be announced.

AEW Collision is set heavily rumored to be the company’s latest addition to the TV schedules and will be the place fans will be able to see CM Punk if he makes his return to the company for the first time since All Out in 2022 in June.

The deal between AEW and Warner Bros Discovery is already taking shape with Warner seeking full rights on in-ring action produced by the company. That has led to the demise of YouTube shows Dark and Elevation and saw the director’s cut of The Firm Deletion match being shown on Bleacher Report rather than the company’s YouTube channel.

May 17th will also see the company produce its flagship show Dynamite from Austin, Texas on what could be a night of celebrations for Tony Khan’s organization.
