Daniel Cormier To Referee Fight Pit Match At WWE Extreme Rules
The referee for the Fight Pit Match at Extreme Rules will be the UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier.
When Seth “Freakin” Rollins and Matt Riddle enter the Fight Pit Match at WWE Extreme Rules in Philadelphia, they will be joined by UFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier. The match takes place on Saturday, October 8th in Philadelphia.
Cormier is one of the greatest UFC fighters of all time. During his days as a mixed martial artist (MMA), Cormier was a former UFC Heavyweight Champion with 1 defense, a one-time UFC Light Heavyweight Champion with three defenses and a Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Champion. Cormier retired from fighting in 2020 and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2022.
The announcement of Cormier as the Fight Pit Match referee was made on social media by Ariel Helwani, who hosts The MMA Hour and does WWE interviews for BT Sport as well. Helwani used to do a show with Cormier as well.

A follow-up tweet shared this comment from Cormier:
“The Rollins-Riddle feud has gotten very intense and personal. There’s only one person qualified enough to oversee this brutal match at Xtreme Rules and it’s me. I’ll see you guys in Philly next Saturday.”
Cormier also posted more comments on Instagram:
“I will be fair. I’ll be honest. I’ll be impartial. And I will not take anyone’s shit. I will be there for a reason. The law has been called in, and I will enforce it with every part of myself to the fullest extent.”
In September 2020, Cormier said in an interview with Sports Illustrated that he had spoken to WWE about possibly being an announcer the company because he’s a lifelong fan of professional wrestling that has followed it his whole life.

Rollins and Riddle are scheduled to have a face-to-face showdown on Monday’s Raw. It’s unknown currently if Cormier will be on Raw, but he will be at Extreme Rules.
