Controversy In AEW As Fan Allegedly Disallowed Entry Over “Abolish ICE” T-Shirt

Brody King on AEW Dynamite

We live in a time when the world is super active when it comes to politics.

The impact of this can also be felt at wrestling shows. One of the earlier instances was seen in AEW, when Brody King wore a t-shirt with “Abolish ICE” imprinted on it.

His entrance during a multi-person tag team match at last year’s Grand Slam Mexico drew significant attention and applause from fans for speaking out amid the United States immigration policies and protests.

The moment received major coverage from popular news outlets in the country, claiming that it was a statement against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Later, the 38-year-old wrestler released official “Abolish ICE’ merchandise, raising tens of thousands of dollars that went to organizations that helped those families directly affected by ICE’s intervention.

On February 4, during King’s match against MJF, the fans inside the Pearl Theater at the Palms in Las Vegas, Nevada, changed “F**k ICE,” leading to MJF responding with a stunned look.

Fan Alleges Entry Disallowed At AEW Show Due To Controversial T-Shirt

Sharing a video post on X, a fan claimed that they were denied entry to the February 11 taping of AEW Dynamite for wearing one of Brody King’s “Abolish ICE” t-shirts.

Today, I was supposed to go to AEW Dynamite, which is taking place right behind me today at Toyota Arena here in Ontario, California. However, the security guards here at that building denied me entry, pretty much behind me, for the day because of my shirt, the Brody King Abolish ICE t-shirt that I’m wearing. The ones that Brody King has been slaying with the proceeds going to people that have been affected by ICE harassing around the country. Yeah, that one.

They wanted me to turn the shirt inside out and when I told them about what the situation was, they were not having it. Chris Shaw, I guess who I’m assuming is the head of security inside the building, he had a short fuse and denied me entry before I can even properly explain myself. They claim that they don’t want any political controversies and all and they thought my shirt might offend people.

It’s like, ‘Dude, really?’ I’m probably wearing one of the most popular shirts inside the building had I been inside. I guess I’m just going to take my L. I’m gonna go home. It’s unfortunate that the security guards here feel a type of way. It’s a damn shame. [H/T: Ringside News]
