Cody Rhodes Wanted WWE Raw Star In AEW

‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes was one of those pushing for a WWE star to jump ship back in 2021.

There were reports in 2021 that “unnamed AEW stars” had been touting for Chad Gable to make a move away from WWE, and join the then-fledgling AEW in effort to give his career a new spark.

A post on the WRKD Wrestling Twitter account has now claimed that Cody Rhodes was one of those who was behind the push.

The match between the pair mentioned in the tweet took place on the 27th February 2023 edition of Monday Night Raw, and saw ‘The American Nightmare’ coming out victorious. Despite the loss, it’s another in a long string of singles matches for Chad Gable which has seen his WWE stock rise under the reign of Triple H.

The most recent edition of Raw also saw new Women’s Tag Team Champions crowned, as Becky Lynch and the returning Lita took the titles from Damage CTRL, with a bit of help from Trish Stratus.
