Former Cody Rhodes Tag Team Partner Reacts To Current WWE Success

Cody Rhodes WWE SmackDown promo

Cody Rhodes has come a long way in his WWE career, and a former tag team partner knows it as well as anybody.

The former 2-time WWE Champion and 4-time WrestleMania main eventer, Cody Rhodes, has solidified himself as a future Hall of Famer and one of the biggest WWE superstars of all time.

It was always that way for Cody, though. His journey to the top has been a long one. Along the way, there were many allies and foes who helped him get where he is.

In 2012-13, Cody Rhodes gained an ally in Damien Sandow, and the two cocky young men were known as Team Rhodes Scholars. They were the favorites to win Money in the Bank that year, which led to Sandow actually winning, and they split up after that, with Rhodes becoming a babyface while Sandow remained a heel.

Damien Sandow had some success in WWE as a Tag Team Champion, but he failed to cash in Money in the Bank and never won a singles title before being released in 2016.

Looking back at Sandow’s run in WWE as a solo act and a mime for The Miz, many people wonder “what if” the company had truly gotten behind him the way it did for other wrestlers.

Cody Rhodes Has A Friend In Damien Sandow

While speaking to TMZ Inside the Ring, the former Damien Sandow spoke about his history with Cody Rhodes and revealed he’s happy for his friend.

“Cody is a friend of mine. We rode together, and yeah, we were both frustrated at points in our career. We were both in different places. Cody is a testament to talent and perseverance; everything he gets, he deserves, I firmly believe that.

I’m just really happy to see him kind of attain the level that he wanted, and I know his dad would be too.”

Cody Rhodes will remain a busy man in WWE since he’ll be in action against Jacob Fatu at Saturday Night’s Main Event on January 24th in Montreal. One week later, Cody will try to win the Men’s Royal Rumble for the third time to earn a shot at the WWE Championship or World Heavyweight Championship.

WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event takes place this Saturday, January 24th, in Montreal. Here are the matches announced so far:
