Cody Rhodes recently gave his take on a long-running Stephanie McMahon rumour.

Cody Rhodes father, WWE legend Dusty Rhodes, was part of WWE’s creative team from 2005 onwards.

A notable storyline when he was part of the creative team was the Rhodes family against The Authority (Stephanie McMahon and Triple H) alongside his two sons, Cody and Dustin Rhodes, in 2013.

During the September 30th, 2013 episode of Raw, Dusty walked to the ring with his sons to confront Triple H and Stephanie. While he got in Triple H’s face, he put his left hand in front of Stephanie’s face, leading her to quickly brush it aside. Stephanie was visibly angry at Dusty’s gesture because a week prior, he had gotten in her face when she tried to talk trash to him like she did to other wrestlers in her heel persona.

Both scenarios were off-the-cuff from the WWE legend, as neither of these actions was part of the script.

Following these incidents, Dusty was rarely given talking roles, even though he continued to appear on WWE TV until he died in 2015. This led to a rumour that Stephanie’s influence in WWE caused them to dilute Dusty’s role on TV following the incident on Raw.

Cody Rhodes Gives His Opinion On Stephanie McMahon Rumour

Cody Rhodes appeared as a guest on the latest episode of the Nikki & Brie Show alongside Becky Lynch.

At one point during the interview, Nikki Bella brings up the promo between her father and Stephanie McMahon during a discussion about Rhodes’ latest promo segment with Stephanie this past Monday on Raw, where she slapped him in the face, giving him some tough love ahead of his WrestleMania 42 WWE Championship match against The Viper, Randy Orton.

Nikki points out that Dusty got “Shoot mad” during the 2013 promo when he went off script and put his hand on Stephanie’s face.

Cody Rhodes clarifies by saying that it was simply that his father and Stephanie McMahon were getting their teeth into it and nothing else.

Oh, when he put his hand on her face?

I always think that’s funny because I think I saw a story circulating like that was like “Oh no”.

If you know her, oh no. They were just getting into it. Oh yeah. They were getting into it. (26:37 onwards)
