Cody Rhodes Emotionally Tells WWE Hall Of Famer – “You Changed My Life”

Cody Rhodes is grateful for what a WWE Hall of Famer did early in Cody’s career.

When Cody Rhodes was a rising star in WWE in the early 2010s, he was trying to find his way as a midcard heel no longer part of Randy Orton’s stable, Legacy.

Along the way, Cody had a 2011 feud with WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, who by that point had already been a WWE World Champion and was one of the most popular wrestlers in the company.

At WrestleMania 27, Cody Rhodes beat Rey Mysterio thanks to the dreaded knee brace to the head, and it was one of the biggest wins of Cody’s career at that point.

In his current role as a top star in WWE who has headlined four WrestleManias and won two WWE Championships, Cody Rhodes is a solidified top guy, but he wasn’t always that, and he gets emotional when thinking about what it meant for Mysterio to work with him when he did.

Cody Rhodes Believes Rey Mysterio Changed His Life

During a recent episode of his What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast, Cody Rhodes had WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio as a guest.

“I was a fan, so I know what you did. Know what you continue to do, but you changed my life. I don’t get anywhere, dude. I had nothing coming my way. I’d lost Teddy and Randy. I wasn’t the one who was supposed to go.

It wasn’t a knock on me, I just wasn’t the one who was supposed to go….I got to experience things at a different level and play ball at a higher level, and I would have never gotten out of the blocks. I would have never had anything.”

At that point, an emotional Rhodes had to dry his eyes with a tissue because he was in tears reflecting on what Rey did for him.

“I would’ve never had anything. I’m sure there’s someone in your career who had a moment with you where maybe you felt the same. But for me, it is legitimately a core moment. Nothing happens without me walking into that building and you being like, ‘You wanna go in?’ And the rest was history for me.

And of course, there’s a myriad of highs and lows, but I would have never had a high. So I have to thank you.” (H/T Wrestlingnewsco)
