CM Punk Pays Homage To WWE Hall Of Famer On Rampage

CM Punk paid homage to a WWE Hall Of Famer as he took his seat at the commentary desk on AEW Rampage to give his take on the main event between Darby Allin and Daniel Garcia.

CM Punk shocked the wrestling world when he made his return to the squared circle after a seven-year absence when he debuted for AEW on the 20th of August. Punk immediately set his sights on a match with former TNT Champion Darby Allin and challenged Allin to meet him at All Out in Punk’s home city of Chicago.

The match was made but Allin has had not had his troubles to seek in recent weeks with Garcia and his friends 2.0. The three men had made it their mission to have the match between Punk and Allin at All Out called off by relentlessly attacking Allin and his partner Sting.

The trio turned their wicked ways on CM Punk on Dynamite as he was delivering a sermon to his hometown Chicago crowd on Dynamite. Ironically it was Punk’s All Out opponent and Sting that made the save as they saw off Garcia and 2.0.

As CM Punk made his entrance, many noticed that the t-shirt worn by ‘The Best In The World’ was a tribute to the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be.

Punk was wearing an officially licensed Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart t-shirt from Roots Of Fight that references the notorious Montreal Screwjob. The front of the shirt bore Hart’s initials and a heart in the trademark pink that the former five-time WWF Champion wore for most of his career.

On the back of the shirt is a quote from French painter Georges Braque who said “Art is a wound turned to light.” The date of Survivor Series 1997 is also printed on the shirt alongside ‘MTL’ to signify the city of Montreal.
