CM Punk Makes A Victorious Return To Chicago At WWE Elimination Chamber

CM Punk World Champion WWE

WWE Elimination Chamber has already provided fans with some memorable moments, as the final Premium Live Event ahead of WrestleMania 42 provided a lot of sparks.

The show witnessed one of the loudest cheers in recent memory as AJ Lee won her first WWE Championship in 11 years as she defeated Becky Lynch to become the new Women’s Intercontinental Champion.

CM Punk then followed up his wife’s match as he defended his World Heavyweight Championship against Finn Balor in the penultimate match of the night.

CM Punk retains the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Punk entered the match as the fan favorite and almost everyone expected the Second City Saint to walk out the Chamber the same way he entered, as the World Heavyweight Champion.

He was pushed to the limit by Finn Balor, who seemed determined to get his hands back on the World Title, more than ten years on from his last World Championship win.

Balor had many memorable moments throughout the match and came close to winning the title on multiple occasions. He hit the Coup de Grace on Punk, but the champion kicked out at two.

Punk then retaliated with a GTS but Balor smartly wriggled out the ring. They then fought on the outside as Punk was dropkicked through the barricade. Balor then tried to hit another Coup de Grace in the ring but Punk turned it into a sharpshooter.

While Balor was managed to break the pin as he grabbed hold of the rope, Punk then surprised him with another GTS and it was a blow one too many for the challenger as Punk picked up the win following his finisher.
