CM Punk’s major appearance has been confirmed amid his absence from WWE television.

Punk last competed on Night 2 of WrestleMania 42, where he put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Roman Reigns.

Despite it being arguably the best match across two evenings, Punk ended up losing his title after holding it for 169 days.

The Second City Saint was then seen on the subsequent Raw episode, as he discussed his loss to the Original Tribal Chief. However, he affirmed that he was going to remain positive because another opportunity might present itself at any time.

This led to a segment between him and Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, where Punk hinted at coming after the SmackDown Champion next.

Since his interaction with Rhodes, Punk has yet to be seen on a WWE taping. Elsewhere, it was recently confirmed that the 47-year-old will miss Backlash, too, which is scheduled on May 9 in Tampa, Florida.

The current line-up for Backlash is as follows:

  • Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker – Singles Match
  • Trick Willians (c) vs. Sami Zayn – United States Championship Match
  • IYO SKY vs. Asuka – Singles Match
  • Danhausen & TBA vs. The Miz & Kit Wilson – Tag Team Match
  • Roman Reigns (c) vs. Jacob Fatu – World Heavyweight Championship

CM Punk Appearance Announced Outside WWE

Following the announcement of Danhausen’s Backlash match, the fans speculated about CM Punk being revealed as his mystery partner due to their real-life friendship.

However, it most certainly will not come to pass because Punk is not advertised for the show.

It has since been revealed that Punk will be one of the celebrities who will be a part of Jon Stewart’s “Night of Too Many Stars” Autism benefit event on Thursday.

Some of the other popular names that have been added to the show include Conan O’Brien, Steve Carell, Nikki Glaser, Adam Sandler, Ali Wong, Jimmy Kimmel, Johnny Knoxville, and Tiffany Haddish.

As of this moment, Punk’s role at the event is unclear, but fans will be hyped to watch him outside the squared circle.

CM Punk’s WrestleMania Match Called ‘One Of The Best’ By WWE Commentator

During his first WWE stint, one of the gripes CM Punk had with WWE was about never featuring him in the main event of WrestleMania.

However, since returning to the company in 2023, he has main-evented The Show of Shows multiple times. In fact, his WrestleMania 42 match against Roman Reigns was called ‘one of the best WrestleMania main events’ by commentator Corey Graves during an interview with PWMania.

I thought CM Punk and Roman Reigns was one of the greatest WrestleMania main events in the history of the 42 years of WrestleMania. I think they told a beautiful, rich story, with physicality, with emotion. Their emotions on their face, the eyes told the story as much as the physicality and destroying ringside tables and things like that. I thought that was a true clinic, a master class in what professional wrestling should be.
