CM Punk confesses to feeling terrible after recently overstepping boundaries.

In the build-up to his WrestleMania showdown against Roman Reigns, Punk spoke about Roman’s family and mentioned his father, Sika Anoa’i, as a way to insult Reigns. This did not sit right with Roman or the fans.

On the go-home episode of WWE Raw before WrestleMania 42, Roman Reigns and CM Punk had a face-to-face confrontation one last time before their singles match.

During the segment, Punk genuinely apologized to his rival for bringing his late father into the feud. He owned up to his mistake in disrespecting Sika’s name.

CM Punk Mentioned Roman Reigns’ Father To Get Inside His Head

CM Punk reiterated his comments during a recent exclusive interview with Corey Graves, saying that he felt “gross” for crossing the line. However, he added that it was a necessary part of his “game plan” to get into Roman Reigns’ head ahead of their upcoming bout.

I 100% crossed the line, because that’s what I do. I am a gold medalist, habitual line stepper, because I will f*ck with you, I will get in your head. I have all the respect in the world for Sika, Afa, all the wild Samoans. He needs to be taught a lesson.

So yeah, I crossed the line. Legitimately feel a little bit gross about it, ’cause it’s low-hanging fruit and I know I’m better than that, but I’m doing what I have to, and I’m following my game plan. (From 6:59 to 7:33)

During the conversation, Corey Graves asked CM Punk what he would do if he retained his World Heavyweight Championship against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 42. Punk replied that he will continue to be a fighting champion and lead the locker room by example.

You have a fighting champion. You have somebody that will be here every week to do his best to lead by example, to sit in catering and eat with the boys, to sit in the locker room, male talent, to try to abolish this culture that has been cultivated backstage of private jets and personal locker rooms, and buses, and hiding spots because you are afraid to show your face.

I don’t understand what this place looks like sometimes, but I know my instincts, and I know pro wrestling, and I know what it looks like when there’s a fighting champion, and there’s somebody who cares and believes. And that’s what you’re gonna get when CM Punk wins at WrestleMania.
