Chris Jericho Thought Ricky Starks Did An Awesome Promo On Dynamite

Chris Jericho called Ricky Starks a “generational talent” after his in ring promo work on Dynamite.

Chris Jericho will now face off against Ricky Starks at the upcoming AEW Revolution after being goaded into signing a contract on last week’s Dynamite.

After several weeks of battling issues with the Jericho Appreciation Society, Starks took to the ring and enticed Jericho into joining, by claiming the former AEW Champion had been avoiding him.

The back and forth promo came to an end when Starks handed Jericho a pen, much to the delight of the hot Phoenix crowd, and the contract was signed for an eye catching bout at AEW’s next pay per view.

Chris Jericho was so impressed by Starks work on the microphone and his career growth so far, that he even brought out a comparison to The Rock.

Discussing the promo on Busted Open, Chris Jericho felt the way him and Ricky Starks gained crowd reaction with the use of a pen, shows that his opponent is honing his craft.

“When you first stand in the ring with The Rock, you talk about a generational talent, that’s a different level. The thing with Ricky is, I’ve seen glimpses of that, which is great. He’s still harnessing and the idea for this program was to continue to build.

He did a great promo in San Antonio when we started that really blew my mind, I thought it was awesome. Then there were some moments that weren’t quite as good just because that’s how it goes. I thought last night [Wednesday] was the best Starks has been in our program so far. Nuances. A lot of the younger guys, they’ll talk with deep breathing because they are afraid to be like, ‘I want to say this. Pause. Let the crowd react.’ He really had some great nuances with that.

That’s what Sammy Guevara and Danny Garcia are learning. Guys have to learn when they haven’t had a lot of promos, really how to hone in what you are and how to hold the crowd in the palm of your hand without saying a word. At the click of a pen, shall we say. Ricky is really starting to hone in on that and figure it out, which has been great,”

Jericho is not the only top star to be talking about Starks, with 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble Winner Cody Rhodes discussing Starks joining him in WWE.

AEW Revolution will take place next Sunday, headlined by a 60-minute Iron Man Match between MJF and Bryan Danielson for the AEW Championship.

Jamie Hayter will put her AEW Women’s Championship on the line in a triple threat match against Ruby Soho and Saraya, whilst “Double J” Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal have the chance to claim gold as they face off in a four way battle for the AEW Tag Team Championships, battling with The Gunn’s, The Acclaimed and winners of a Casino Tag Team Royale.
