Chris Jericho Finally Breaks Silence On WWE Rumors
The AEW star, Chris Jericho finally addressed the rumors of his WWE return earlier this year.
After a legendary career in the WWE, Chris Jericho joined AEW during the company’s inception in 2019. He also became the first World Champion in the new promotion and had many memorable moments there. At the end of last year, Jericho’s contract with All Elite Wrestling allegedly expired, and there were rampant rumors that he would be returning to the Stamford-based promotion.
However, Chris Jericho put a full stop to all the rumors and speculations by returning to AEW last month after a lengthy absence. Jericho also made his in-ring return at Dynasty 2026, where he was defeated by Ricochet.
Chris Jericho on the rumors of his potential WWE return
Speaking with Ringer Wrestling, Chris Jericho addressed the rumors of having talks with the WWE after his AEW contract was up. Jericho explained the psychology of wrestling fans online and stated that he was never part of anything that people believed:
The interesting thing about fans — going back to what we said earlier about having a career where you can watch anything online — is that fans in this day and age, they form their own opinions and then it becomes law because the opinions spread. Whatever people believed or didn’t believe, I was not ever a part of any of it. I think the best part was there was so much speculation of what is he going to do that either way, with the tribalism of wrestling nowadays, there’d be people happy about it and not happy about it”
Jericho further added the following:
This is the worst thing ever and this is the best thing ever. I’ve never really focused on that side of like, this is terrible and it’s never going to work. To me, anything can work and you always want to do your best to make it work. I focus on the people who are excited about things and the people who want to be entertained and want to be happy and want to have fun. That’s kind of the crowd that I focus on.”
Jericho refused to reveal the truth about the rumors, saying he likes the idea of intrigue:
I’ll leave that for another day. I like the idea of the intrigue.” [H/T Fightful]
Meanwhile, Jericho is involved in a storyline with the Hurt Syndicate and The Demand in AEW.
