AEW opened with a bang tonight in Winnipeg, Manitoba, as the Tony Khan-led promotion made its way to AEW Dynasty, which is set for later this month.

The show had multiple segments announced, including the contract signing between MJF and Kenny Omega for their AEW World Championship match on the show.

However, the show was off to an amazing start after the promotion’s inaugural World Champion, Chris Jericho, finally made his return to the promotion after a lengthy time away.

Chris Jericho returns to AEW after almost a year

Jericho hadn’t been seen on All Elite programming for a major part of 2025, with his last appearance on television coming on the Dynamite after last year’s Dynasty pay-per-view.

Many fans expected the Learning Tree to return to WWE this year, but he shocked everyone with his appearance tonight. He made his return ahead of the contract signing for the World Championship match at Dynasty.

The show was expected to open with that segment, but Jericho made his return to All Elite Wrestling before that, making his comeback in his hometown of Winnipeg, and told the fans that he’s home now.
